Can't wait to do one of these again!

I'm not exactly sure... Here's the deal, I bought my motor brand new 'on the crate' from Wolf Sport back in 98. My mechanic lost the spec sheet at some point during the installation and I've never bothered to find out. It may be stock, but when I measured it with calipers a couple months ago it came out just a couple thou bigger than what TT references as the Hydro G factory offering from the 8V GTI/GLI. (Not to be confused with the 'G-Grind' - a solid lifter only cam...) You can't actually measure a cam properly with a caliper. I should have pulled out the dial indicator and turned the motor instead of the static method I used. In any event, even if it is stock, it still runs like a scalded dog. There is more power to be had, but I've put 150k trouble free miles on it and I still average 30mpg in my daily commute. I am considering investing in the TT 268, but I'm not sure if that is going to produce any emissions headaches. CA is biotch for smog checking...

Now I'm the one LOL! Seriously, though, I didn't bring a camera - these pix were hosted by dub nation. (www.dubnation.com I think)

The pix I took for the Vortex gallery were with my wife's digi-cam. She's got a 4Mp Kodak Easy Share. I've been wanting to kidnap it and shoot some video with it on some of fave roads, but I haven't rigged up an in car mount for it...

DSLR is the win! The point and shoots are good for quick and dirty work, but nothing when compared to a camera using real optics. I have a bit of SLR gear, but it's all celluloid format. I use to have a lot of fun shooting soccer games with some good film and a 400mm lens. All the parents on the sidelines are shooting with little POS's, but I'm getting pics of their kids they can actually see. Every game they were coming up to me to check the pics and buy the good ones. It supported my habit for a couple years... I can't believe that was like 17 years ago. I'm gettin' old!

<edit>

BTW, their 'kids' were all the soccer babes on my girlfriend's Under-19 Al Caffodio team. Good times... Soccer babes rule.

More specifics...

SLR (Single Lens Reflex) or Point-n-Shoot? Price range? Capabilities? (i.e., digital video?, etc...) First step is to determine what features you must have, then which you want, and then which you don't give a hoot about. Narrow it down to a few models. Go price hunting...

I took this pic with a Sony 4 meg there great for just average pics but a D-SLR will set you back 1k with lenses or so if you get a 3CCD camera.

Start here: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canoneos10d/

Sony camera - $500

Actually snapped the Fox while I was going to see this:

Well i can actually get a nikon D50 body for about 300 and use my old SLR lens. But at the moment i dont think im gonna make that move. I got an old skool nikon chillin here so i think im gonna use that for now and get a cheap digicam. I can take my good shots on the nikon and have the film put on a disc so ill work that for a lil bit, cuz my digi is bout done, unfortunately.
