Sup everyone I'm Antonio, I'm livin in AZ but I'm Puerto Rican and there is were my Fox is at. I'm 15 and have the car since 10. The car has all the money I've made . You can visit my cardomain page http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2587712 leave any comments and suggestions.
This is some of the info of the domain: This is my VW Fox. I bought it 5 years ago for 400 bucks. It has over 300k miles and counting. Really hard car and engine. The biggest thing that had to be changed was the clutch, when the old clutch was out I found out that it was the one that the car had from the factory 19 years ago. I just moved, so I haven't been able to keep modding the car, but the car is still a work in progress. I'll try to keep the page up to date with the mods of the car. See ya soon, fox_pr |

Hello All. Just taken possesion of an 89 VW Fox, 2 door. It will be converted to a circle track racer for my son. Last year he raced my old Rabbit, which was an iceracer before becoming a circle track car. But ended the season with a wreck. The Rabbit died.
But he fell in love with VWs so his replacement car had to be a VW. We were looking at Golfs when his sponsor gave him the Fox to race. Seems to run fine, just needs a clutch. Not bad for a free car. So I'm here to find some tips to squezze as much as we can out of the Fox. |

| Oi! My Name Is KomradePie, and I'm a 32 year old Gentleman from the Intermountain West. I have an 89 Fox GL 'sedan', and while I would like to do some serious work to the car, I just like the way the damn thing looks! LOL Well, it needs paint, but anything that runs well after nearly 20 years is good in my book. I have heard that a 16v head-swap operation will be of great service to me, especially if I can get the intake and exhaust manifolds. If I can make that work, then I will do a full exhaust, cold-air intake, and a stereo to play jazz music louder than all the rap I am forced to listen to on the streets... Billie Holiday! |
People deride my Fox. I find it to be a Utilitarian Masterpiece! |

Welcome to the board-
While a 16V swap would yield some impressive results, it also requires a good bit of custom fab work. A much simpler and considerably less expensive conversion is to use the 2.0L block from a 93-98 Golf/Jetta, code ABA. They're dead reliable and cheap to both purchase and maintain. (I've been running the ABA bottom end in my wagon since 98 - about 180k miles so far) That certainly can't be said of the 16V.
A big valve head, big throttle body, dual out exhaust manifold/downpipe/hi-flow cat and catback sitting on top of an ABA should net you 120 real horsepower. Compare this with the stock 1.8 16V @ 123hp and the 2.0 16V @ 134hp. Not far off the mark really, and a much better $/hp ratio. |

Thanks for the welcome. I have had many cars, but I have never found such a stand-up group of people as I have in the VW/Fox community. As it turns out, I found a nice G60 with a clean supercharger, and it looks like that's what I'm going to put in. Also a megasquirt. The Fox should be quite nice after that. Quite nice indeed... Hello! There is PLENTY of horsepower to be had out of your Fox. Thousands (almost... lol) of possibilities. Look around and see what would fit your driving style. Bigger "All-Motor", turbo, superchargers, exhaust, intake, the works. Plus, your Fox will always, and I mean ALWAYS be infinitely better than any honda... |

| Hello, Mike Jetsonic here. VW/ Audi enthusiast since 1983. Worked for VWOA in the '80s. Currently own a 1988 Fox wagon w/450k miles that we know of on the original motor, trans and clutch. Mods include Audi Sport seats, Ronal R8 wheels, Momo steering wheel, shortened shifter and others soon to follow. I also own a 1984 Audi 5K wagon with later model 10 valve motor, Mitsu turbo & intercooled, 2" lowered H&R springs & struts, 3 inch SS exhaust and 16" BBS wheels, etc. There is also a VW Chopper trike in the collection too. ATL based, looking for local Fox fans. |
