Hey All, Let me start by saying, THIS FORUM ROCKS! It's a great place to exchange info. I just finished converting my 94 Fox over to an ALL-ELECTRIC CAR! Check it out... http://www.evalbum.com/2231 Here are a pics of the process.. http://www.flickr.com/photos/22369075@N07 I pick the Fox for the conversion because it is light, smallish and roomy enough for all the golfcart batteries (16). It was pretty easy to work on also. But I'm having a problem. The trunk now contains 11 batteries with a total weight of 600lbs. I need to up-grade the supension. Any suggestions as to stiffer springs? I have heard that some VW/Audi parts are interchangeable. What about air-springs? Are they easy to install? Any advice is appreciated. All the Best, John in San Antonio

| i dont know about air springs but i know the mk2 springs are stiffer. I ran spec v springs and springs from a legacy which are a good bit stiffer. |

look up shockwave 7000, its an air over shock, would bolt right up and is an adjustable shock along with airbag. when i do air ride on mine im using those on the rear, also lowering springs from honda preludes fit and should be stiff enough to handle that load, i had 300lbs in the trunk of my honda and it only dropped the rear an inch or 2, the vw has a shorter spring area so im sure they would do well with your 600lbs and they would be cheaper and easier than the air, actually those would probably be PErfect for u,
there are a lot of springs that fit on the rear, it just depends on how stiff and tall u want them. |
