I have a 1989 Fox wagon 4 speed manual 111k miles for sale with a little good bad & ugly going on:
for $500 you get a car with very little rust, a few minor dents and:
The good:
replaced the following within 5k miles new battery new plugs, cap, rotor, msd wires fuel tank & in tank pump rear fuel lines & breathers rear brake lines, wheel cylinders & shoes valve cover gasket
replaced within 20k (not all at one shot but I don't remember exactly) TT 2" alumized exhaust K & N panel filter front brake pads & rotors water pump, timing belt thermostat
The Bad: drivers seat is missing a bushing and slides a bit on the rail (1/8") bolster is shot on driver's seat too... all covered up with seat cover. one dash hinge is missing, holds up while driving PIA when open hardware missing from passenger door armrest/holder. I've got it somewhere & am looking.. Ignition went & I got lazy and put the part onto the wiring harness but never bothered to hook it up into the dash. I start the car with a screwdriver. (not into ignition key hole, under steering wheel) Nothing is ruined... just not intstalled.
The ugly: no stereo but has newer speakers (drop in kenwoods If I remember right) Radiator leaks a little out of the top. It has done so since 50k miles. I had it welded but it didn't take. No real problem NO ac. Compressor seized. I have a new compressor (used) to go with the car but not installed Cracked windshield Clutch is getting high Doesn't always go into 3rd NO hood. Yea, that's right.. NO hood. I let a friend borrow the car & he brought it back with a sob story. Anyhow, hinges are broken clean. Latch and cable work no problem. Junkyard wants $150 with hinges. When the hood broke off on the highway, cracked the windshield & put two dents in the roof where a yakima rack was.
So.. this car starts first turn, and will do 90 all day. 1 puff of smoke on startup & then burns clean. It will pass emissions in MA.
Throw in a clutch, windshield & hood is what it needs to be a good car again. You could pick it up & drive it anywhere as is but might get odd looks without the bonnet!
First reasonable offer gets this thing out of my driveway! pictures are located here:
